The Baker family, with 12 children, move from small-town Illinois to the big city, after Tom Baker [Steve Martin], gets his "dream job" to coach his college alma-mater football team. Kate Baker [Bonnie Hunt], the mother of the 12 children, has written a book called Cheaper By The Dozen, that is published with great fanfare and a subsequent book tour. There are many adjustments to be made in the transition from life in a small rural town to a big city; and with mama being gone on her book tour and daddy away working, it makes for hilarious scenes in this remake of the original "Cheaper By The Dozen," written by Frank Gilbreth.
